30/05/23 From the staff of McGill Library Rare Books and Special Collections:
Conference participants to “The Reception of German Mysticism in Early Modern England“, sponsored by the The Cambridge Centre for the Study of Platonism and the McGill School of Religious Studies Pavillon Birks, McGill University , 24—26 May 2023, received a guided visit of The Raymond Klibansky Collection, which holds a number of 17th-c. editions of Jacob Boehme and Valentin Weigel, among others.

The Klibansky Collection is also featured, along with several other McGill RBSC items, in the virtual exhibition “Amor Mi Mosse Che Mi Fa Parlare” created to celebrate Dante’s 700th anniversary in 2021. The exhibition brought together works from libraries in Montreal (McGill University, l’Université de Montréal, and Concordia University) with the Biblioteca Nazionale «Vittorio Emanuele II» of Naples, and the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale and Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana of Florence. Among the books from the Klibansky Collection that formed part of the team’s study, shown in the exhibition is a diagram of “The Tenth Heaven – The Spaceless Empyrean – or Paradise” from a relatively recent volume, a 1900 Dent edition of Edmund G. Gardner’s, Dante, with title page designed by Reginald L. Knowles (Raymond Klibansky Collection, PQ 4335 G3 1900).
[02/05/23] From “La lettre d’information des Archives Poincaré (novembre 2022)” online:

Regina Weber
Lotte Labowsky – Schülerin Aby Warburgs, Kollegin Raymond Klibanskys. Eine Wissenschaftlerin zwischen Fremd- und Selbstbestimmung im englischen Exil. (Hamburger Beiträge zur Wissenschaftsgeschichte. Bd. 21. Hrsg. v. Rainer Nicolaysen und Eckart Krause). Dietrich Reimer Verlag Berlin/Hamburg 2012.
Regina Weber’s book, and the letters between Labowsky and Klibansky held at the DLA, Marbach, are among the sources used for the 2022 book Metaphysical Animals: How Four Women Brought Philosophy Back to Life, by Clare Mac Cumhaill and Rachael Wiseman (Chatto and Windus, Doubleday and others), which appeared on the New York Times ‘Notable Books’ list and the New Yorker ‘Best Books of 2022’. Letters cited from Labowsky, writing from Oxford in the early 1950s, to Klibansky, then in Canada, mention in particular conversations with Elizabeth Anscombe, who worked with each of them on various endeavours.
